Nothing Else

If you read nothing else this week, read this:

The State of Medicinal Marijuana Research in the U.S. by Lindsay Stafford, HerbalGram–the journal of the American Botanical Council (www.herbalgram.org). The importance of this issue is magnified as President Obama hasĀ  re-nominated Michele Leonhart as head of the DEA. Read my HerbalGram story to become more informed about her role in medical marijuana research. If you disagree with Leonhart’s actions and would like to see the Senate deny her confirmation, visit change.org to voice your opinion. MAPS will be distributing my story to Senate staffers as they prepare for Leonhart’s confirmation hearing, which makes me feel like I’ve finally written something with an impact.

Food Fighter: Does Whole Foods’ C.E.O. know what’s best for you? The New Yorker. Whether you are somebody who wishes you could afford to shop at Whole Foods, somebody who does shop at Whole Foods, or somebody who can afford to but would rather shoot yourself in the head–this is a very interesting profile on the man behind the image.

The Obamas’ Marriage. The New York Times. Accomplishing the near-impossible, this story ignores politics and allows the reader to see President Obama as utterly human.

Merle Haggard: The legendary country musician’s key tracks. Rolling Stone.
